Getting James Ready For His Fitness Photoshoot
James had a dilemma. He had the opportunity of a lifetime – to do a fitness photoshoot with leading photographer Matt Marsh – but he couldn’t do the usual shredding routine.
Why? Because he also served in the Parachute Regiment and any reduction in his physical and mental capability could have disastrous consequences for him and his colleagues. No pressure for us then!
Note: He also only had 12 weeks to do it!
Fitter, faster, stronger…leaner?
So we got to work on finding a way to simultaneously help James lose body fat whilst improving his overall athletic performance.
First, we designed a nutrition plan that ensured he could strip away body fat without going too low in calories. At no point during this transformation did we allow James to go below 1,950 calories. To do so would have impacted his energy levels.
His training was designed to build muscle, strip away body fat and, crucially, maintain or improve his physical performance. He came to us because we have a reputation for not advocating hours of cardio and extreme low calorie dieting! Instead we use a smart, intelligent individualised approach with every client to get this kind of result.
He did it!
12 weeks after James starting training with us, he had his photoshoot with Matt Marsh. We even went with him for the day to support him and do a last minute workout to get him into shape!
The fact that James made it was a testament to his discipline and willingness to learn. Well done James!

What being a Royal Marine Commando taught me about fitness
I am going to be honest. Being a Royal Marine Commando taught me more about health and fitness than all of my personal training courses combined. That’s no criticism of the teaching, rather a nod to the fact that health and fitness is a way of life in the Royal Marines because our lives depended on it.
